Inquiry FUNtastic RC double coloured target – FUNtastic DOG

A while ago I have (in cooperation with GALICAN) launched a special FUNtastic RC target designed specially for this class. Few months ago it has also been updated with 2 colours, softer surface and different attaching system (which allows to use the target on the floor without any straps or buckles aside).

Why choose this FUNtastic RC target?

1) This FUNtastic TARGET(size 55cm) has MUCH BETTER GRIP than the regular rubber targets – the way how rubber is applied to the surface makes all the difference and offers SUPER GRIP, which is specially important for SAFE and efficient RC training. Dog needs to always fully trust the target surface to be able to run confidently through the target and with nice, relaxed movement. Good grip is especially important also when training any angled exits, as that is where the dog even more powerfully “pushes” from the target into an angled line. If the target is slippery and the dog is not trusting the surface 100%, he can start avoiding to hit it (specially in full speed running), or he will become less relaxed in his movement (slowing down or showing signs of jumpy behaviour (feet close together).

2) FUNtastic target is DOUBLE SIDED. In practice that means that the back side of the target is covered with SPECIAL ANTI SLIP material, which offers much better stability when placing the target on the artificial or normal grass (there is bigger traction between the target and the ground surface). BESIDES, this ANTI-SLIP material can also be used as a TARGET (more sensitive dogs usually love it), so basically this target is DOUBLE SIDED as it can be used on both sides and is overall not only very PRACTICAL but also very SAFE for the dog.

3) FUNtastic target also includes a special POCKET with VELCRO on the side where ANTI SLIP material is.This pocket is meant for insertion of a metal plate inside it, which can help you turn the target into SOLID one and with that make the EDGE transition nice when working on lower height DW (on lower height DW, edge of the plank is bigger than it will be when DW is on full height and bigger edge is not only more dangerous for inexperienced dogs, but it can also promote “jumpy” behaviour or even “over reaching” which we do not want to encourage). Besides, inserting the metal plate also makes the target heavier and therefore more stable when using it on the artificial grass. The pocket can also be used to store the velcro and pegs for fixation.

4) FUNtastic target also has special parts for nice and most importantly SAFE FIXATION on the DW AND on the FLOOR. The most important part of using any equipment in dog training is SAFETY. And besides making sure the FUNtastic RC target offers SUPER grip when dog runs through it, it is EQUALLY important that the target itself is very STABLE and it doesn’t MOVE when being placed on the floor (grass, sand, artificial grass) OR on DW. Not safely and FIRMLY fixated targets can cause many problems in RC training. Not just possibly causing the dog to slip and injure himself, but also the dog starting to avoid touching the target if he will not trust in the stability of it. So here few important changes have been made in order to make the target as SAFE as possible

FIXATION on the FLOOR: target doesn’t anymore consist from straps and buckles on the side (all the buckles on the side made the use of the target on the floor a bit clumsy), but now it only consists from 6 loops (sewed in a way that the whole is “closed”) through which you put 6 pegs (6 pegs are included into the package when ordering the target), to safely fixate target on the natural grass or on sand. When using a target on the artificial grass, already the ANTI – SLIP material on the other side of the target should offer nice traction and with that better stability. In case when working with extra powerful dogs and to improve stability on the artificial grass even more, you can also place heavy metal plate in the backside pocket of the target (more heavy target will be more stable) and/or you can also “rotate” the target and have the rubberised side in contact with artificial grass, which usually improves the traction and stability even more.

FIXATION on DW: for DW fixation, this FUNtastic RC target comes in the package with 3x double sided VELCRO straps, which makes fixation on the DW super SAFE and super EASY. Even if with time you lose one velcro, you can easily (for very low cost) replace it with another one or with some other type of fixation by your choice. The old version of this target had buckles and if that buckle broke, it was more challenging to replace it).

5) FUNtastic RC target’s COLOURS AVAILABLE:

YELLOW (with blue sprinkles on half)
BLUE (with yellow sprinkles on half) and
PURPLE (with yellow sprinkles on half).

The big change (in comparison to most other targets) is also that the FUNtastic RC target has been UPDATED with TWO colours. In practice that means that target is LIGHTLY divided in TWO HALFS (consisting of only solid colour in one half vs. solid colour with sprinkles in the other half ). That feature was introduced mostly to allow YOU to see and distinguish hits easier (specially important when following my rewarding system, where for example the best hit is when one hind feet hits before half of the target and other hind feet hits after half of the target and this kind of colour pallete of the target makes it so much easier for you to see the hits). At the same time this dividing of target is still subtle enough, so the target keeps the unified colour and the dog doesn’t get bothered with that. When deciding which colour to get, it is always best to pick a colour that is in contrast with your dog’s feet (that should not be a problem here) and that it is in a different colour then the colour of the contact from the DW on which you usually train on. IMPORTANT: if you wish to order just one SOLID colour of the target (no sprinkles), it is also possible on special request.
